Msamaria Centre

The Msamaria Centre is a residential and education centre serving orphans and street children in Moshi/Tanzania. The goal of this centre is to provide a stable home to meet all of the basic needs of the children. Educational programs are focused on teaching the children all of the primary school subjects which they have missed (either because they were on the street or financially unable to attend school) so that they can pass the state exam to attend secondary school. In January 2009, as a testament to the effectiveness of these educational programs, 35 children passed the state exams. Through the assistance of the Msamaria Centre, these children have been successfully reincorporated into the formal education system for secondary school.

When the Msamaria Centre opened in 2007, it served only 11 children. Over the past two years, the centre has served a total of 80 children, and currently supports 50 children, boys and girls.

Thanks to the goodwill of several donors, Msamaria Centre has been able to expand enough to accommodate the new children while still providing for their basic needs. However, providing enough food and schools supplies for 50 children along with sufficient equipment for staff and managerial purposes is always difficult. As such, Msamaria Centre needs your help in funding these necessary projects so that they may better provide for the needs of the children.
